About Ryland Works

VERIFIED BLACK HISTORY, WORN.

I'm Ryland. I drive LTL freight out of Nashville, Tennessee — I've called Nashville home for about 23 years, by way of Vallejo, California. I'm a family man first: my fiancée Jasmyne, our three daughters, and our dog Rylo are the reason I do everything I do.

Ryland Works started with a simple frustration. The stories of Black American inventors, soldiers, and pioneers get flattened into a single month and a few famous names — and too much of what gets shared is wrong. Wrong dates. Made-up patents. Quotes nobody said.

So I made a rule: if it goes on a shirt, it has to be true.

EVERY FACT IS CHECKED
Before a design goes live, I verify it against the record — original patent filings, dates, and documented history. When I find a mistake, I fix it, even after a design is printed. Every product page carries "The Verified Record" so you can see the facts for yourself.

BUILT TO ENDURE
A lot of these designs start on my phone, on the road, between deliveries. Each one honors a real person who built something that lasted: Lewis Latimer, whose carbon filament helped light the world. Alice H. Parker, who imagined central heating. Frederick McKinley Jones, who changed how America moves food. Madam C. J. Walker, who built an empire. Freedom House, America's first paramedics.

They built to endure. So do we. Every piece is printed on heavyweight, garment-dyed cotton and made to order, just for you.

WEAR THE STORY
When someone asks about your shirt, you'll have the answer — and it'll be right.
